1. What can I expect from the Grow Brooklyn Festival?
You'll find lots of fun activities and interesting discussions about making healthy choices, exhibits and hands-on cooking classes with chef demonstrations, and live entertainment. Also, you'll get to pick up some seedlings to start your own urban garden, join family workshops and activities to learn about growing plants on your windowsill, on your stoop or in your backyard. There will be giveaway opportunities, contests and an afternoon jam-packed with fun!
2. When is the festival and how long will it last?
The festival is on Saturday May 20th and will be from 11am to 4pm, with activities organized throughout the afternoon.
3. Is this event for all ages?
Yes! Bring the whole family. There will be activities for toddlers, teens, adults, seniors and everyone should be able to find something of interest, whether a child-friendly activity, a cooking demo or some cool technology tips.
4. How much does the entry cost?
Nothing! The event is free.
5. Can I buy food at the festival?
There will be food-related activities during which you will be able to prepare and taste some foods, but there will not be any food vendors at the festival, so come prepared with food, beverages and snacks if you think you'll need them. We're in the middle of a beautiful park, with outdoor seating and fields of grass. So bring your picnic and sit in the park while enjoying the music!
6. What public transportation is closest to the Center?
Saint John's Community Recreation Center is located in Crown Heights, with great public transportation options. If you're traveling by subway, take the A/C to Utica Ave or the 2/3/4/5 to Crown Heights/Utica Ave. You can also take the B15, B65, B46 and B45 buses with convenient stops to the center.
